Julia Morgan remains one of the most prolific, effective and accomplished architects of her era. Modest, talented and hardworking she set a standard of excellence that remains unchallenged. With over 19 projects designated with Landmark Status the only ones to not recognize her superior efforts where her male peers. It was not until 2015; fifty years after her death the AIA awarded Miss Morgan posthumously the AIA’s highest honor: The Gold medal in architecture. To Miss Morgans credit and typical of her life and work, she was the first Woman architect in the 65 years of the award to receive it.
